Believe ~ Grow ~ Flourish
“Jesus came to give us life, life in all its fullness” John 10:10
Physical Education is a vital part of our curriculum at Brigstock Latham’s CE Primary School. Children at Brigstock will develop a love for sports. Our curriculum provides opportunities for all sporting ability. The children will lead healthy active lives and have opportunities to partake in sporting events throughout the years using their knowledge and displaying techniques that they have learnt in PE lessons. In addition, we believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all children. The children participate in competitive sport and through this we teach children how to work effectively as part of a team. We ensure they know fairness, sportsmanship and respect are vital when playing sports.
At Brigstock children from years 1 – 6 take part in 2 hours of curriculum led PE per week. We use Get Set 4 PE to ensure that children are challenged and supported at a level appropriate to them. Our PE curriculum provides children opportunities to thrive in a range of sports including gymnastics, dance, team games and in Key Stage 2, swimming.
Children enjoy and appreciate a variety of sports and experiences. PE lessons provide a level of challenge and will ensure that children are experiencing a healthy lifestyle. Their skills and knowledge will be assessed by teachers as the units progress. When our children are physically active, it has a positive impact in the classroom. Through our ambitious and varied PE experiences we are giving children the opportunity to flourish and live life in all its fullness.
