Geography

Believe ~ Grow ~ Flourish

“Jesus came to give us life, life in all its fullness” John 10:10

Our Geography curriculum at Brigstock School has been specifically selected to enable our children to investigate places, patterns and to communicate geographically.

It is our belief that our children will gain an excellent knowledge of where places are and what they are like, as well as an excellent understanding of the ways in which places are interdependent and interconnected and how much human and physical environments are interrelated.

Our Geography curriculum follows units outlined in the Geographical Association and has been carefully picked to enable our children to experience ‘Life in all its Fullness’. By providing our children with a broad and challenging range of Geographical learning experiences, we intend to increase their cultural capital and broaden their life experiences through research, field trips, visitors, cultural links and creative activities. We involve our wider school community including parents and carers to share their cultural background and experiences. We promote the Fundamental British Values as well as the school values through these experiences.

Children will have grown their understanding about the wider world and its people. They will have developed skills that will equip them with the knowledge to identify places, people, resources and both natural and human environments across the world. These skills will enable children to flourish in all that they go on to achieve after their time at Brigstock. The field trips and extra-curricular interactions will give children the opportunities to see how Geographical skills can be used in the wider world, enabling children to flourish.
